Connecting Generations!

This site is dedicated to the memory of our ancestors, particularly to those who had the pioneering spirit and the courage to bravely venture across the seas with only the possessions they could carry. You will find throughout this sight they were all very hard working, ambitious and adventurous men, women and children escaping poverty, hardship, and persecution.

They became the Australian workforce.... miners, farmers, vignorins, wheat growers, publicans, shop owners, public servants and surveyors, all in which helped create this country for what it is today.

Their stories need to be told and shared among our younger generations - the places they lived, the cultures of the times, the families they created, and the circumstances - good and bad - that would one day lead to us, their descendants.

They were all migrants, we owe them their place in our history.

How I am Connected!

My family connection begins through the marriage of James⁵ Pollard and Agnes Auld in 1859 in Adelaide, South Australia.

James⁵ was the tenth child of twelve to Cornish parents James¹ Pollard and Ann Hicks, a mining family from Redruth in Cornwall England. He was a young boy of seven when he and his family emigrated in 1840 aboard the vessel 'Waterloo'. At the time of his marriage, James⁵ was the licensee holder of the Victoria Inn at Kapunda Sth. Aust.

Agnes was the second child of six children to Scottish parents Patrick Auld and Eliza McKinnell; a farming family from Wigtown, Scotland. Agnes was a young toddler of four when her family emigrated in 1842 from London, arriving in Port Adelaide on board the vessel 'Fortitude'.

Anyone involved in genealogy or family history would know that there is always another question to be answered or issue to be researched. That is exactly why the �to-do� list keeps getting longer and longer and will forever be a work in progress. Unfortunately, though mistakes will unintentionally appear, I welcome any corrections, any additional information and/or photographs.
